Claims & Dispute Resolution

We provide claim services for all of the standard form of contracts.  In our experience, the submission of a balanced, yet pragmatic, argument at an early stage can often avert protracted disputes and many of our clients have benefited in this way.

Following initial engagement with the client, we undergo a series of stages as outlined below:

Contract Review & Drafting

PPS offer their clients contract review services tailored to meet the client’s specific requirements. The review will highlight risks, propose amendments and if required by the client, negotiate final terms on their behalf.

PPS provide contract drafting services based on model forms, advising our clients on the best procurement strategy, the most appropriate form of contract and the inclusion of  relevant special provision suit the risk profile of the project.

PPS can provide employee training on the contract administration of various model forms including JCT and NEC.

Cost Planning

The majority of project costs are determined during the initial stages.
Our experienced estimating and cost planning team will ascertain the project costs by first principle methodology and market knowledge.

They will include the application of value, risk and whole life cost criteria to establish the true costs for the client. This will enable the client to make informed decisions from project inception.

Our experienced team will undertake as routine, appraisals on the options or alternatives available to provide the best solution for the client.

Cost & Change Management

Our experienced team of quantity surveyors manage costs at all stages over the project life cycle to deliver a "no surprise'' conclusion.

We assign experienced quantity surveyors to manage all commercial aspects of any project.
We ensure that the client's QS holds a proficient understanding of 'true' cost and take a more pragmatic approach.
Ultimately this knowledge and approach benefits the client by ensuring that projects are delivered at the optimum cost level for maximising value.
Our quantity surveyors prepare and agree interim and final accounts within the contract requirements.

We ensure that our quantity surveyors are experienced and proficient in contract administration as this is often seen as a failing in the more traditional practices.
Our quantity surveyors work in close co-ordination with a PPS contract specialist should the need for specialist contractual support be required.

With our unique approach we can manage change control effectively to enable informed & timely decisions to be made and to ensure that the client receives the best value.

We can advise the client on best practice in respect of cost reporting and our network partners can also provide the most up to date IT system and database solutions.

Commercial Systems

PPS can offer solutions to clients who wish to implement more formal systems and procedures to report and manage their commercial processes.

These are generally applicable in large PFI, BOOT, BOT or other PPP projects in the field of mining, oil and gas, power generation, telecom network, and similar bigger projects.

Some of the processes includes, developing model contracts, modeling JV structures, forming policy, procedure, reporting and project data collection, weekly and monthly reporting, change control, commercial administration and final accounts, handing over after commissioning, maintenance and operation contracts etc.
A sub-contract system and process, compatible with the Main Contract, is also available including sub-contract agreements with appropriate terms and conditions.

We can tailor commercial systems and procedures to the individual business requirements of the client and link these commercial processes to any operational and financial processes that the client may already have. We have long experience in NEC, FIDIC, ICE & ICHEME contracts over a wide range of sectors such as water, railway, mining, oil and gas etc.

We can also offer initial and on-going training for the commercial system and procedure implemented.

Project Management

The NEC requires excellent management and organisational skills, together with a thorough working knowledge of the Contract mechanisms and the importance of the Programme.
